Let’s talk about date nights. How often do you go on date nights with your significant other? After having our daughters, it seems like we don’t have date nights as often as we use to. I knew it was going to be hard to have date nights as parents but I do know that date nights are very important in a relationship. Last weekend we had the opportunity to take a little getaway and it was everything our relationship needed.
We were invited to visit the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel and I must say, it had everything we needed. This hotel is located at the crossroads of Brentwood and Bel-Air, Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel is a lush, private urban oasis hidden in plain sight. One of the few landscaped hotels in LA, sits on seven secluded acres halfway between Santa Monica and Beverly Hills with some of the largest guest rooms in the city. Minutes away from everything, Luxe Sunset Boulevard is the closest hotel to the Getty Center and UCLA, Santa Monica Pier and other important LA attractions within a short drive.
Lets get to our favorite part, the room! We stayed in one of their Executive Junior Suites. This room was generously sized, studio-style suites features an intimate alcove with a couch, two chairs, and a center table, as well as an oversized bathroom with a roman tub and separate walk-in shower. Not only was the room beautiful and very clean but they also had all the amenities we needed like: a coffee machine (coffee and tea provided), complimentary Wi-Fi, Luxe signature bathrobes, bath amenities, hairdryer and an iron.
Hubby and I were both impressed with how comfortable the bed was. We will be honest, both of us missed our daughters and even mentioned bringing them along for our next Luxe Hotel stay as the room was big and would have been perfect for the four of us. Although the bed was big enough for all 4 of us, the girls could use the pull out sofa that was in our room.
Nestled in the Hollywood hills, there are beautiful views all around. The Luxe offers plenty of things to do on site. They have everything from the beautiful heated pool, Tennis courts, on site Pilates classes as well as an outdoor gym that my husband really enjoyed. It was definitely different being able to work out by the pool with the equipment provided.
There was one item on our list that we were not able to enjoy but it is in our list for our next stay at the Luxe and that is their complimentary bikes. You can borrow one of the bikes and take it to explore what the surroundings have to offer. We will definitely be using these next time to visit the beach and the Getty Museum which was visible from the pool area. Now that was a view!!!
When staying at a hotel we love to visit their restaurant to take full advantage of the hotel and not have to go anywhere to eat. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and were happy with all of our meals. The in house restaurant at the Luxe is called Cirocco, the décor was beautiful with an option to eat inside or outside with a calming waterfall in the background and heaters to keep you warm while enjoying some delicious Mediterranean inspired cuisine.
With so many delicious dinner food options, it was hard to chose what to eat. But when I saw lobster on the menu, I knew what I would be starting with. I got the lobster mini rolls and they did not disappoint. The dish is composed of Maine lobster with scallions inside a delish lemon New England bun. This was definitely my favorite. My husband decided to start with the Cesar salad, great choice to start any meal. For our main course, hubby went with the Luxe Cheese burger, definitely a classic cheese burger made with fresh ground beef on a delish bun with all the trimmings. I went with the fettuccini alfredo and added some chicken, it was a delicious pasta with cheese cream sauce. We had to end the night with some dessert, so we ended up sharing the warm chocolate lava cake that came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and some fresh berries, perfect way to end our night.
We enjoyed the dinner food options that we had to try their breakfast menu as well and it also did not disappoint. I started off my morning with my go to drink choice which was the iced coffee while hubby went with the Power Berry which was a fresh fruit smoothie made up of mixed berries. They had various breakfast options to chose from but when we saw the option of chilaquiles, both of us had to try them. The Chilaquiles were delicious, the tortillas were not too hard or too soft, they were perfect. They were covered in tomatillo sauce and queso fresco and we couldn’t forget the chicken and the side of sunny side eggs to mix with our chilaquiles. It was the perfect way to start our morning. I would definitely pick this option again.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and our date night! I highly recommend staying at the Luxe next time you are planning a visit to Los Angeles or like in our case, a date night.
