As you all know, we love exploring and finding new adventures whenever possible. The only problem lately has been of course the rising gas prices. As much as we love to hit the open road, gas prices have made it difficult so we had to find an alternative that would make it easier for us to still be able to do what we love yet save as well. Step in the new All-Electric 2022 Chevy Bolt EV! Chevy loaned us this awesome car for a week and said “Have fun! Show us where it can take you!”.

Public Charging Has Never Been Easier

One thing we had to keep in mind was charging. We were new to EV cars so one of the main things we were thinking was public charging. Will we be able to charge the car anywhere we go? How hard will it be to find a charging station? Let me tell you, right off the bat that concern went away, there are over 40k charging stations. We were easily able to find a charging station anywhere we went. We had a charging station less than 1 mile from our house, we were able to shop and dine while we left our car charging. What about work? Hubby took the Bolt to work to see how much he could save on gas during the week using the Bolt and his office building had charging stations right outside as well! Hubby charged while he was at work and once it was time to head back home, the Bolt was fully charged. You have no idea how convenient it is to find charging stations all over the place, you won’t need them all the time since you get great mileage on a full charge but if you ever do, rest assure that you can find a charging station close to where you are. To make charging even easier, the myChevrolet Mobile App with Energy Assist can help you plan the most efficient routes, find available charging stations and even pay for charging while you’re on the go. Check out this Chevy Public Charging link yourself, type in your location and see for yourself how many charging stations are in your area. Oh and if you prefer to charge at home, Chevy has you covered. The Bolt EV comes with both the Level 1 and Level 2 charging adapters so you can plug in at home and charge your Chevy at home.

What About Performance?

Most people might think that if you go electric you give up power. Well let me tell you that the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV packs a mean punch!! The Bolt EV is quick where it counts, it goes from 0 to 60 in 6.5 seconds. When you engage Sport Mode by pressing the button, it provides more responsive acceleration delivering a more exciting driving experience. One of our Adventures took us up the mountains to Lake Gregory in Crestline, CA. Not once did we feel the Bolt EV lacked power to get us up the mountain. There were so many twists and turns to reach our destination but with the Sport Mode Engaged we were zooming up that mountain, taking every curve and made it to the Water Lantern festival with no problems. One cool feature that we loved was the One Pedal Driving, and it exactly what it sounds like. By engaging the One Pedal Driving mode, control the Bolt EV by using only the accelerator pedal to speed up and slow down, instead of the brakes. And it can even bring the Bolt EV to a complete stop. It also captures energy by using regenerative braking to slow the vehicle. You might think this would take a long time to get used to but after just a few moments we were hitting the road and using the One Pedal Driving mode, it was a new experience not having to use the break pedal since the car starts to slow down as you take your foot off the break but you can definitely use the break pedal while you get used to it. We both loved this feature, hubby a lot more than me I would say.

Safety, Safety Safety!

One thing that we always preach is safety. Every Chevy vehicle that we have tried has not let us down and the Bolt EV is no different. What are some of the safety features you might ask? Well lets go over a couple of them. Front Pedestrian Breaking, this feature can help you avoid or reduce the severity of a front-end collision with a pedestrian it detects directly ahead of you. Forward Collision Alert can warn you when it detects a potential front-end collision with a vehicle you’re following so you can take quick action. Automatic Emergency Braking uses camera technology is used to automatically provide hard emergency braking. Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning uses a brief, gentle steering wheel turn to alert you when you may be unintentionally drifting out of detected lane lines, so you can steer to stay safely in your lane.

What is New for 2022?

Chevy has been coming out with some awesome new features this year and the Bolt EV was not going to be left behind. The Bolt EV had a redesign with a new exterior design with a new hood, new front and rear fascias, new LED headlamps, new taillights and new wheel designs. Awesome colors that stand out from the rest. We got the Ice Blue Metallic which was perfect for us since it reminded us of Cinderella. New Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system with 10.2-inch-diagonal color touchscreen which included Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This feature has been a life saver, all of our apps showing up on the large screen so we can manage or maps and music. No more having to use a cellphone holder and distracting us while we look at the small screen.

We honestly had the best time with the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV. it took me on a long trip from the Inland Empire to LA, we explored the mountains as we visited the Water Lantern Festival. We went to the best amusement park in the Inland Empire known as Castle Park and of course no adventure in an electric vehicle would be complete without paying a visit to Disneyland to catch the Main Street Electrical Parade in our 2022 Chevy Bolt EV. Thank you once again Chevy for an amazing fun packed week of adventures, The Bolt EV is definitely a car that we would recommend and who knows, you might see us doing a lot more exploring inside this Bolt EV.

  1. Loving this color! I’m glad it was comfortable for some longer trips too because that would be my concern.

  2. I love the colour of that car! The one-pedal driving thing might throw me off for a few days though. A beautiful car!
