Have you ever taken a weekend staycation and it felt like you have been on a month long vacation? We just did! Typically, our weekend staycations feel so rushed and short but let me tell you everything about our recent stay! We had the pleasure of staying at the gorgeous The Cassara Carlsbad, Tapestry Collection by Hilton Resort and there was so much for us to do that we felt we were there for a whole month!

We checked in on a Friday afternoon and as soon as we entered, we were amazed at how beautiful the lobby looked. The Cassara Carlsbad lobby gave us a relaxed SoCal vibe with a taste of coastal Europe. I mean look at these pictures we took at the lobby.

During check-in, we were handed a calendar with all the activities the resort offered all month long. We were also given information of places to visit as well as restaurants to check out, I thought this was pretty neat as it helped us plan our stay.  We noticed on the calendar that it was s’mores night! Of course, we purchased a few s’mores kits and we enjoyed spending time together while making s’mores by the pool. They also have a full stalked bar near the lobby so I had to have my favorite drink, cranberry and vodka, by the pool while watching my daughters enjoy the fun of making s’mores.

Now let me talk about the room! We stayed in one of the Karlsbad Suites with a patio. We were wowed the moment we walked in! The suite was a two Room Family Suite with a Patio. It features two rooms (a main parlor plus lock-off bedroom) with a private balcony/patio. This layout offered plenty of space for my family of four to play, and it also had plenty of room for me to comfortably work. The highly desired oversized patio/balcony offered Carlsbad coastline views while we relaxed comfortably on the patio seating furniture. I mean you can see the Carlsbad Flower Fields from the balcony! The large floor to ceiling sliding glass doors offered plenty of natural light and let in the fresh coastal air.

There were 3 42-inch TV’s in total, which gave us to option to watch different shows but you know we couldn’t do that so we all jumped on the master bed and enjoined a family movie night. When it was time to go to bed, Twinkies went off to their room which featured two twin beds for them to sleep in.

There were also plenty of in-room amenities available which included a mini fridge, a beverage station with Keurig coffee maker and pods, complimentary premium Wi-Fi which is provided throughout the whole property, plenty of power ports near the nightstands, cable with Showtime, movie channels and Netflix accessibility. Our Family Suite featured an oversized bathroom with granite vanity countertop and sink, premium bath amenities, hair dryer, and a separate powder room with a bath/shower combo.

Something that the Cassara Carlsbad offers that is amazing is hearing accessible suites, Mobility with Tub suites & Mobility with Roll-in Shower suites are also available. For ADA compliance, Mobility suites do not include third TV or couch sitting area.

Did I mention The Carlsbad Flower Fields are literally next to the resort? Have you ever been to The Flower Fields? If you haven’t, it is a must visit! The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch® in Carlsbad, California, are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year – from early March through early May. We woke up early Saturday morning and got ready to head out and visit The Flower Fields. They open at 9am so we made sure to get there by 8:45am and there was already a line of people waiting to go in. It was literally a two-minute drive from the resort. The resort also provides a shuttle you can call and request to be picked up and it will take you anywhere you want within a 5 mile radius but we decided to drive instead of waiting, we were ready to start the day at The Flower Fields. As soon as we made our way inside we were surrounded by beautiful flowers. There are many picture quality locations to stop at to get that perfect shot. I would recommend jumping on the wagon ride which will take you around the property and it gives you opportunities to jump off and take pictures around the flower fields.

After a long day at the Flower Fields, we made our way back to the resort and enjoyed a fun pool day under the sun. The beautiful quiet pool offers unmatched coastline views, swimming lanes, poolside beverages, cabanas and fire pits.

We loved the quiet pool but there was something that the girls were really excited to see and that was the family pool and splash pad. The splash pad had plenty of interactive water features that the girls were excited to explore and discover. They would find something they could interact with and see how it made the water rise or drop when they did so. We finished off the rest of the day here since the girls didn’t want to leave and it was the same for a lot of other families with kids lol.

On Sunday, we had another big surprise for the Twinkies! We surprised them with a visit to LEGOLAND! How far did we have to go to get there? It was a 5 minute walk across the street from the resort. No need to drive there or pay for parking since you can walk across the street and arrive at the park through Cassara’s exclusive pedestrian access entrance. This was such an amazing bonus to be able to walk across the street and be at LEGOLAND within minutes and at the end of the night, we walked right back to our suite. Stay tuned for a full blog post detailing our visit to LEGOLAND.

In the end, we were not ready to leave The Cassara, it truly was an amazing resort that we would visit again and again. Even if you just want a staycation, there is so much to do at the resort. If you do want to enjoy everything Carlsbad has to offer, The Cassara is centrally located to so many places to explore.
